Brightnook Studio

Draft. This policy is not in force yet. It will be finalized before Cupli is released.

Cupli

Privacy policy

Effective date: [set on release]

The short version

  • Cupli works offline and has no account and no ads.
  • Your tournaments, players and scores are stored on your phone. We cannot see them.
  • A few services help the app work: Google Play for payments, RevenueCat to confirm a Pro purchase, Sentry for crash reports, and Expo for app updates. They receive technical data, not your tournaments.

Who we are

Cupli is made by Brightnook Studio, run by Shai Israel in Israel. Contact us at hello@brightnook.app.

Data stored on your phone

Tournament names, player names, crest colors, scores, results and settings are saved only on your device. If you add a player photo (Pro), the photo is copied into the app on your device and never uploaded. We have no server that holds this data.

Backups, exports and sharing

  • Android backup. If backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may include Cupli's data in your device backup. That backup is handled by Google under its own privacy policy.
  • Export file. When you export your data, Cupli creates a file and you choose where it goes.
  • Share image. When you share a result, you choose the app and the people it goes to.

Buying Pro

Payments are handled by Google Play. We never see your card details. To check whether you own Pro and to restore it, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives a random app user ID, your purchase history for Cupli, and basic device and app information. See the RevenueCat privacy policy and the Google privacy policy.

Crash reports

If the app crashes, a report is sent to Sentry so we can fix the problem. It contains technical details such as the error, the device model, the Android version and the app version. It does not contain your tournaments, player names or photos. See the Sentry privacy policy.

App updates

Cupli checks Expo's update service for fixes to the app. Each check sends a random installation ID, the app and update version, and your IP address, as with any internet request. See the Expo privacy policy.

When you email us

Send feedback opens your own email app with the app and Android version filled in, so we can help. We use your message and email address only to answer you, and we delete them on request.

Permissions

  • Camera: only if you take a player photo (Pro). Android asks you at that moment.
  • Photos: picking a photo uses Android's photo picker and needs no storage permission.
  • Vibration: for the tap you feel when scoring. You can turn it off in Settings.

What we do not do

No ads, no product analytics, no selling or renting of data, and no tracking across other apps or websites.

Children

Cupli is meant for people aged 13 and over and is not directed at children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Keeping and deleting data

Data on your phone stays until you delete it in the app or uninstall Cupli. To ask about or delete data held by the services above in connection with your use of Cupli, or emails you sent us, write to hello@brightnook.app. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal data, or to object to its use. We will answer such requests.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
